RADIUM, Colo.—Authorities say an Arizona woman died while rafting on the Colorado River with co-workers on a teambuilding trip.
Grand County sheriff’s officials identified the woman as 65-year-old Susan Pyeatt-Terpening of Glendale, Ariz. Rescuers pulled Pyeatt-Terpening from the river at a campground near Radium Thursday afternoon. Attempts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful.
Her death remains under investigation. Authorities say a raft Pyeatt-Terpening was in overturned near Needles Eye, throwing her into the water.
In western Colorado, The Daily Sentinel reported three people were rescued from a rock in the Dolores River Thursday. They had been stranded for nearly four hours and authorities say they lost their raft.
Officials have been telling inexperience rafters to avoid swollen rivers running high with spring runoff as the state’s record snowpack begins to melt.
