COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A bomb squad removed a donated antique first aid kit from a Colorado Springs museum after staff found an item in it labeled picric acid, a potentially explosive chemical used extensively through World War II.

Colorado Springs police say Pioneer Museum staff were reviewing inventory when they came across the old first aid kit Thursday and saw the labeled item.

The Denver Post reports it was safely removed and taken to a remote area for destruction.
