Expect delays on I-70 this weekend as the Colorado Department of Transportation plans to do some bridge work.
Beginning at 7 p.m. tonight, the left lane of westbound I-70 at 44th Avenue will be closed while CDOT crews rotomill the the existing asphalt on the bridge at 44th Avenue and replace the deck with new concrete, paving and striping.
CDOT advises alternate routes because “major delays are expected.”
Crews planned to finish the work on the bridge next weekend and more closures are expected.
The city of Denver said they plan to shut down the left lane of eastbound I-270 tonight at 6 p.m. A detour will be put in place and I-70 will be shut down in both directions at Central Park Boulevard at midnight while crews set girders and deck panels for the new Central Park Boulevard Bridge over the interstate.
Lane closures will begin along the same stretch Saturday and Sunday nights and a full closure will go into effect on I-70 at 10 p.m. The interstate will reopen Sunday at 7 a.m. and Monday at 5 a.m.
On Monday night into Tuesday, a full closure of I-70 will go into effect at Central Park Boulevard at midnight. The closure will reopen at 5 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
