The Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District will off free seminars in June and July for water-conscious landscaping and gardening enthusiasts.
Now in its second year, the series will focus on water efficiency. That includes irrigation scheduling and budgeting, selecting grass types and plants, and the seven principles of Xeriscape.
The sessions are open to homeowners and professionals and will be conducted in Northern Water’s Conservation Gardens at the district headquarters north of Berthoud.
“Each year our studies show us new ways to have better water-conserving landscapes,” Mark Crookston, head of the district’s irrigation management department, said in a news release. “The series offers a great way for people to come out and see how to use this knowledge in their own yards.”
The 90-minute seminars are every Wednesday through July 27 (with the exception of July 6). Each will be offered at 3 p.m. and some are repeated at 6:30 p.m. While walk-ins are welcome, registration is available at registration@ or by calling 970-622-2220. Those attending could win a free rain gauge.
The Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District’s headquarters are at 220 Water Ave., Berthoud. The grounds feature one of the top 10 Plant Select gardens in the state, and are open to the public. Detailed seminar descriptions are available at .
