Charges have been filed against a Longmont man who provided alcohol to an underage student in Greeley who ended up jumping from a second story balcony and later died.
Greeley police were called to the Delta Tau Delta house, at the corner of 11th Avenue and 16th Street, at about 1:20 a.m. on April 16. The student, Ross Higuchi, 19, was found lying unconscious on the ground. He had suffered serious head and body injuries and died days later while in the hospital.
Higuchi, a freshman at the University of Northern Colorado, may have jumped after an argument with other fraternity members over some items he damaged in the house.
Police said, at the time, that they didn’t expect to file charges.
The Weld County District Attorney’s Office today formally filed one count of providing alcohol to a minor, a class one misdemeanor, against Kyle Riley, 22.
A court date has not been set.
