Services will be held in Littleton today for Army Cpl. Brandon M. Kirton,of Centennial, who was killed in Afghanistan last month.

Gov. John Hickenlooper ordered flags at all public buildings be lowered to half-staff today, according to a news release from the governor’s office.

Kirton was killed May 18 in the Kandahar Province when insurgents attacked his unit with small arms and mortar rounds. He served with the 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team and the 101st Airborne Division.

Kirton was born in Englewood.

Services will be at 1 p.m. at Mission Hills Church in Littleton, followed by a burial at 3 p.m. at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Brandon’s Little Heaven Fund at any Wells Fargo bank or Fisher House Foundation at Dover Air Force Base.
