Due to the drawdown to inspect a faulty dam, operating procedures at the Antero Reservoir have changed.

The south ramp will be open four days a week (Friday through Monday), and the north boat ramp will be open seven days a week as the reservoir is drawn down by two feet. Only small trailered boats, canoes, bellyboats and other smaller craft can access the south ramp, while any size boat can access the north ramp. All boats must be inspected for aquatic nuisance species before entering the water.

Denver Water, in coordination with the Colorado Division of Wildlife and the Office of the State Engineer, began lowering Antero Reservoir the first week of May as a safety precaution to reduce water pressure and seepage within the dam.

Denver Water is conducting studies to help determine what additional actions, if any, need to be taken to address the seepage issues. The duration of the study will depend on what Denver Water learns from the initial information.
