ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK — Bicyclists and hikers are enjoying at least one more weekend on Trail Ridge Road without cars.
With about 2 miles left to clear of snow, officials said Friday they are hoping to have the landmark high-altitude road open sometime this week.
This year’s delay tops even the June 4, 1994, opening, which was the latest opening date in the past few decades.
“Many of our plow operators have been here for 30-plus years, and they have never seen this much snow this late in the season,” Rocky Mountain National Park spokeswoman Kyle Patterson said.
