A 27-year-old man caught trying to steal his 16-year-old neighbor’s underwear in Littleton last year was sentenced to three years of probation today.
Prosecutors said Kurt Matthew Ward “had been leering at the girl for quite some time before the break in.”
After his arrest shortly at about 5 a.m. on May 31, 2010, he told Littleton police, “I came into their house to get my football back.”
He had a blood-alcohol level of 0.183 at the time of his arrest, more than twice the level considered legally drunk in Colorado.
In March, Ward pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary and misdemeanor criminal mischief.
The District Attorney’s Office said Ward was chased from the house in the 6400 block of South Spotswood Street by the girl’s father and brother.
He then fought with police officers who arrived to arrest him, which resulted in a charge of obstruction of justice of a peace officer.
He was found guilty by an Arapahoe County jury on that charge in April. His sentence today includes all the charges against him, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
His previous criminal record included only a drunken-driving charge in Weld County in 2008, records show. He pleaded guilty and received probation, community service and fines, according to court records.
In a press release after Ward’s arrest, Littleton police said he had an arrest warrant in Weld County for failing to meet the terms of his probation.
