A driver rear ended another car in Adams County this morning, sending the hit vehicle rolling into a field and injuring the driver.

The crash happened at about 6:50 a.m. near the intersection of Colorado Highway 85 and East 136th Avenue, said Sgt. Micah Acker, a Brighton Police Department spokesman.

A Mazda sedan, driven at a high rate of speed, was southbound on Highway 85 when it rear ended a Nissan sedan, Acker said.

The Nissan left the highway and rolled on to its top in a field. The driver of the Nissan, who had to be cut from the wreckage, was taken to a local hospital. Further details on injuries were not available.

The driver of the Mazda, who was at fault in the two-vehicle crash, was not injured, Acker said.

The Mazda driver will likely be cited later today when the extent of the injured driver’s condition is determined, Acker said.
