Colorado’s agricultural exports increased 31.8 percent in the first quarter of 2011 over the same period last year. Leading the increase were dairy and baking-related products.
Dairy products increased nearly 160 percent to $14.8 million; hides and skins were up 25 percent to $47 million, and meat products — which represent more than 61 percent of total state ag exports — grew more than 29 percent to $175.3 million.
Baking-related products such as bread, pastry, cakes and biscuits, increased more than 62 percent to $2.6 million.
The top five export markets for Colorado are Canada, Mexico, Japan, Korean Republic and China.
