A man suspected of photographing a boy inside a Loveland park restroom was arrested in Jackson County after leading police on a chase and crashing his car.
Jakob Mayer, 29, was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Monday by the Colorado State Patrol in Jackson County, according to a Loveland Police Department news release.
Mayer led a state trooper on a short chase before crashing his car, police said. He was taken by helicopter to the Medical Center of the Rockies, Loveland. His injuries were not life-threatening.
Just before 4 p.m. Monday, Mayer allegedly photographed a boy inside a bathroom at North Lake Park in Loveland, police said.
Police were called to the park, and Mayer allegedly fled in a white 1994 Chrysler LeBaron. Police pursued the LeBaron, but the driver sped away. The pursuit, in heavy traffic, was called off for safety reasons.
Mayer will face a charge of sexual exploitation of a child, among other possible charges, when he’s released from the hospital, police said.
