A man suspected of photographing a boy inside a Loveland park restroom was arrested in Jackson County after leading police on a chase and crashing his car.
Jakob Mayer, 29, was arrested at about 7:30 p.m. Monday by the Colorado State Patrol in Jackson County, according to a Loveland Police Department media release.
Mayer led a state patrol trooper on a short chase before crashing his car, police said. He was taken by helicopter to the Medical Center of the Rockies.
Just before 4 p.m. Monday, Mayer allegedly photographed a boy inside a bathroom at North Lake Park in Loveland, police said.
Police were called to the park and Mayer allegedly fled in a white 1994 Chrysler LeBaron. Police pursued the LeBaron but the driver sped away and the pursuit, in heavy traffic, was called off for safety reasons.
Mayer will face sexual exploitation of a child, among other possible charges, when he’s released from the hospital, police said.
His injuries are not life threatening.
