ASPEN, Colo.—Independence Pass is open again after it was temporarily closed by a mudslide.

The Aspen Times says the pass was closed for about three hours on Monday evening, stranding motorists on either side of the blockage.

The Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the slide at about 6:15 p.m. It occurred about 100 yards below the ghost town of Independence.

A Colorado Department of Transportation crew cleared the highway and opened the road to traffic.
