Officials are investigating the cause of a suspicious fire that burned four vehicles in a Colorado State University parking lot Tuesday morning.

At 2:24 a.m., firefighters responded to a report of smoke, flames and explosions from a vehicle parked near the CSU Housing Service Center at 1624 W. Plum St., according to the Poudre Fire Authority.

Crews discovered two vehicles burning, the flames threatening two buildings and a large natural-gas line. Firefighters prevented the flames from spreading to the buildings and the gas line, but two vehicles were destroyed and two were moderately damaged.
