Nearly 7 million skiers hit Colorado slopes last season, a 2.6 percent jump from the year before, according to data released today by Colorado Ski Country USA, a trade group representing 22 of the state’s ski resorts.

Most of the increase was from in-state and international skiers, CSCUSA noted, largely because snowfall was good in all parts of the country, keeping destination skiers from venturing too far.

Not included in the report are ski slopes owned by Vail Resorts, which is expected to release its own numbers on Thursday.

CSCUSA guessed that statewide skier visits for all areas “comfortably” topped 12 million skier visits — just the fourth time its ever reached that mark.
