BOULDER, Colo.—A Boulder-based company plans to lay off 70 people to focus on its clinical development programs.

Array Bio-Pharma spokeswoman Tricia Haugeto told the Boulder Daily Camera on Monday that the layoffs amount to about 20 percent of the company’s 350-person workforce.

Array’s actions are the second major blow to the Boulder-area’s biotechnology sector in as many weeks.

California-based Amgen Inc. told the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment that it plans to lay off 134 employees in Boulder and Longmont. A company spokeswoman said the reductions were part of an effort to improve manufacturing capacity in Colorado.
