For a taste of classic Western true grit, join Colorado Mounted Thunder for the Cowboy Mounted Shooting Show this weekend at the Fairgrounds at Stanley Park in Estes Park.
“This is really a fun competition with a lot of appeal as a spectator sport also,” said Kevin Perry, president of Colorado Mounted Thunder.
Colorado Mountain Thunder, an all-volunteer group, produces the event as a club-level activity that is sanctioned by the Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association, a national organization that tracks points for the sport.
“This is a world-qualifier event,” said Perry, who has been a horseman his entire adult life and added the thrill of shooting while riding in 2003.
