Breckenridge Brewery has been up to some interesting things lately, notably partnering with Wynkoop Brewing Co. to open the Ale House at Amato’s, a huge new beer bar in Lower Highland with a generous patio overlooking the Denver skyline. A brew to try there or anywhere else is SummerBright, an aptly named seasonal wheat beer. Brewed with orange and lemon peels along with wheat and a generous helping of four malts, it’s a crisp quencher that begs for more than one on a hot day. (Alcohol by volume of 4.5 percent makes it highly sessionable.) Oddly clear for a wheat brew, it’s a golden pour with a white head and an appetizing nose that’s filled with biscuity aroma and a whiff of citrus. On the palate, the lemon is apparent, along with the heavy, satisfying dose of malt and just a light hop bite at the finish. Superb drinkability will make the first one disappear in no time.
