Colorado State won’t meet Mountain West newcomer Nevada and Air Force will skip perennial Top 25 resident Boise State according to the new schedule model for 2012-13 announced by the Mountain West on Tuesday.
League presidents recently agreed that when the full 10-team configuration goes into effect for the 2012 season, each member will play an eight-team conference schedule. In order to maintain rotating home-and-home formats, each member will drop another for a two-year cycle.
The other pairings who won’t meet during the first cycle are Wyoming-Hawaii; San Diego State-New Mexico and UNLV-Fresno State.
Hawaii doesn’t appear on CSU’s road schedule until 2013.
CSU will continue to either host both Wyoming and Air Force or travel to both neighboring schools in each season.
Actual dates won’t be determined until prior to each season, pending nonleague contracts and television arrangements.
