
Recipe by Robin Volk, as reported by Helen Dollaghan in the June 15, 1969, edition of The Denver Post. Serves 4.
Ingredients
1 1/2 pounds round steak, cut about 3/4-inch thick
1 cup cooking oil
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon monosodium glutamate (optional)
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
Directions
Trim fat from steak. Cut it across the grain in long, pencil-like strips, about 1/4-inch wide. Cut the longer strips in half. Place meat in shallow dish. Combine remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly. Pour over meat. Refrigerate, covered, 24 hours. Stir marinade and meat occasionally. Remove meat from marinade, drain. Thread meat onto skewers. Grill to desired degree of doneness, turning occasionally.
