Longmont couple who unknowingly adopted a dog who had previously been stolen from a Nebraska ranch have reached an agreement with the dog’s original owner that will allow them to keep the dog.

The Animal Law Center, which represented Dave and Diane Wilson of Longmont, announced the agreement Wednesday.

According to a press release, the Wilsons adopted Ebony, a Rottweiler puppy, in December 2010 at an adoption event held at a national pet food chain store. When they went to have the animal micro-chipped, they discovered that the dog had been reported stolen.
