ELLICOTT, Colo.—A 54-year-old man is recovering after he was shot by an El Paso County Deputy after a struggle on a highway north of Ellicott.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Schaller tells KKTV-TV that a deputy was sent to investigate a disturbance on Thursday when the shooting occurred.

Schaller says 54-year-old David Dean Goss suffered non-threatening injuries.

Schaller said the two men struggled over the deputy’s weapon and that’s when the deputy fired.
