Hat tricks from Billy Bitter and Brendan Mundorf propelled the Denver Outlaws of Major League Lacrosse to a 15-7 victory over the Hamilton Nationals in Ontario on Saturday night.
The Outlaws (4-1) scored nine consecutive goals against Hamilton (1-3) in the first half, including three from Bitter. Mundorf scored the Outlaws’ first short- handed goal of the season. They led 11-3 at halftime.
Mundorf finished with four goals and four assists. His eight points in a game rank third in Outlaws history. Drew Westervelt contributed two goals and three assists for Denver, which hosts the Long Island Lizards next Saturday night at Invesco Field at Mile High.
Public Links leader shoots 66.
Derek Fribbs of Plum Creek Golf and Country Club took a three-shot lead into today’s final round of the Colorado Golf Association’s Public Links Championship after his 6-under- par 66 at Buffalo Run Golf Course in Commerce City.
Fribbs, a University of Colorado golfer, finished his second round with four consecutive birdies and had a two-round total of 9-under 135. He led Colorado State’s Zahkai Brown of Indian Tree Golf Course. Brown (138) had two rounds of 3-under 69.
