DENVER—Adams County Assessor Gil Reyes has been charged with failing to report gifts from a company that received huge reductions in its property taxes.
District Attorney Don Quick says Reyes was served with a summons on Wednesday charging him with a criminal misdemeanor for failure to report gifts worth more than $50.
According to the Denver Post, Reyes accepted Colorado Avalanche and Rockies tickets and lunch invitations from a vice president of Majestic Realty Co., an industrial-warehouse company that won $23 million in reductions on the value of its buildings.
The violation carries a potential fine of $50 to $1,000, but no jail time.
Reyes was not in his office Wednesday afternoon and could not be reached for comment.
