ASPEN, Colo.—Pitkin County will have a mail-in only ballot election this fall following impassioned pleas from county officials.
According to the Aspen Daily News, Treasurer Tom Oken broke down crying in front of county commissioners on Wednesday and convinced the commissioners to change course.
County Clerk Janice Vos Caudill also asked for mail-in ballots because it is less expensive and labor intensive.
Caudill said a traditional election would cost the county an extra $28,000 this year.
