Buyers like the idea of saving money on energy bills, but they care as much or more about nuts-and-bolts features of new neighborhoods – the schools, commuting times, and prices for more space and features. So when a builder ends up delivering on all of that, and has ‘green’ features better than a custom builder would give you, they’re bound to sell well – exactly what you’ll see at North Creek Farms by Meritage Homes, I-25 at Highway 7 in the Adams-12 Five-Star Schools district.
Meritage Homes has sold so rapidly in its north Thornton neighborhood (25 homes since December, four since June 1) that they’re opening a new phase of home sites in North Creek Farms today, including cul-de-sacs and sites that back to open space, that you can see along with Meritage’s ranch and two-story model homes. The latter includes the super-selling ‘Salida’ 3-bedroom-plus-loft model – 2,246 feet with a vaulted master suite with 5-piece bath that’s across a bridge-loft from other bedrooms. “People just fall in love with it,” says sales rep Sue Camara, adding that Meritage will finish the basement as a rec room and fourth/guest bedroom/bath for as little as $25,000 – and has an option to bump the basement ceiling height to nine feet – something that North Creek Farms buyers are overwhelmingly taking advantage of.
Hidden behind all of that are Meritage’s ‘Green’ features – MUCH more thorough than most production or even custom builders offer, with HERS scores 30% to 40% better than average new homes. Tucked away behind a Plexiglas wall in the ‘Monarch’ ranch model, you can peek through to elaborate spray foam insulation and sealing that are included along with the two furnaces for zone efficiency, and water-savings from a ‘smart’ irrigation system. You and the kids can tour a Green Learning Center that shows the savings.
“These homes are technically as green as you can buy today,” adds Camara. “We’ve put lots of work into creating the greatest ones in the Denver market.” She has high praise, as well, for schools serving North Creek Farms – top rated Silver Creek Elementary, Rocky Top Middle and Legacy High, and for Larkridge Shopping center with Costco. Ask Camara (she’ll have refreshments out) about quick delivery homes (one ready soon for each of the models you’ll tour), and a new-phase special of free air-conditioning, plus 3% against your closing costs if you use Meritage’s lender. Take I-25 north past E-470 to the Highway 7 Exit, and then head east just past the shopping center to a left on 166th.
