LONGMONT, Colo.—Police say a woman suspected of causing a fatal crash in Longmont Saturday fled the scene on foot and then tried to swim away from authorities in a nearby lake.

KMGH-TV in Denver reports that Colorado State Patrol believes 32-year-old Lisa Norton is to blame for a head-on collision Saturday evening that killed 33-year-old Gabriel Nielsen. Troopers say Norton drove her Ford Ranger pickup truck into oncoming traffic and hit Nielsen’s Nissan. Two other passengers, including a 2-year-old child, were injured.

State Patrol says Norton fled the scene on foot and attempted to swim across a nearby lake. Troopers said boaters brought her to shore, where she was arrested by Longmont Police.
