The 11-month-old Windsor baby injured in an accident at a childcare home on Monday died this morning at Children’s Hospital Colorado in Aurora.
Kalea Mummery was taken off life support early this morning after her parents decided to donate her organs.
Kalea was sleeping in a playpen at a Windsor home childcare when her head wedged between the mattress and the netting on the side of the playpen. Her body remained on top of the mattress, cutting off her air.
Windsor police were called to the home in the 600 block of Buckhorn Mountain Court at 11 a.m. on Monday on a report of a child not breathing. Kalea was airlifted to Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland and subsequently taken to Children’s Hospital.
