Lowry has never had a hard time attracting high-end buyers – but now Lowry is down to its very last home sites of the quality to match a truly expensive home. And the homebuilder that has grabbed hold of those lots isn’t some million-dollar custom builder, but Berkeley Homes – with large, luxurious semi-custom homes priced from $459,900…from around $500,000, for a big home on one of these premium sites.
“These lots were supposed to be for million dollar homes,” said Rich Laws, president of Berkeley, showing off five new sites picked up from custom builders, that will look down on Lowry’s Prospect Park, and over the top to downtown skyscrapers and mountains beyond. People who have lived in Lowry want to stay in Lowry, Laws went on, adding that a lot of older houses here are in the 1,800 to 2,400 square-foot range, that have to be feeling small now to some of those owners….
Berkeley, in contrast, can create you a ‘Chicago Cottage’ plan sized over 3,000 feet, with a tandem 3-car garage, and the option of doing another 1,093 feet finished in the basement at a very low cost/foot. Laws and Carol Barrington can show you exactly how those homes will orient, looking across a broad bermed area that will screen the homes off from the picnic and playground areas in the park.
Checking those out when I visited was Realtor Donna Bird from Coldwell Banker, who had just finished two days showing a physician couple from Toronto around Denver — getting ready to move here for jobs at nearby Fitzsimons medical campus. The tour covered the whole town, but ended right here. “They truly love this house,” Bird said about Berkeley’s ‘California Craftsman’ model you can tour in East Park, between Common Grounds Golf Course and Great Lawn Park.
While you drive around, you’ll see the amazing sports scene along Sports Boulevard and Lowry’s other attractions, with all of life close to where you live: parks, trails, shopping, dining and schools, not to count kids’ baseball, soccer and hockey, much of it walkable. But opportunities for new homes in Lowry are about played out. Counting the five new sites, Berkeley has only ten lots left, and is readying to build spec homes on the existing five, and one luxury spec home on one of the park-facing lots, just to show the possibilities.
You can also see plans for the soonest to deliver — a 4-bedroom main-floor master, on track for October at $505,370.
