Police arrested one suspect after what appeared to be a botched drug deal that led to car chase in Denver last night.
At 8:40 p.m., police were called to the 600 block of Broadway on a report of shots fired, said Detective John White, spokesman for the Denver Police Department.
The victim reported to police that he met two people to show them a car he was selling. During the meeting, one of the men produced a gun, White said.
The suspects grabbed the vehicle’s title and cash and sped off in their vehicle.
The victim pursued the suspects. One of the suspects fired at least one round at the victim’s vehicle during the chase. No one was hit, White said.
At one point the vehicles collided causing the victim’s vehicle to stop in the 200 block of W. 12th Avenue
The suspects’ vehicle continued down the road until it collided with a parked vehicle at 11th Avenue and Delaware Street, where it was found by police.
“Further investigation revealed that this whole incident was a result of what appeared to be a drug deal that had gone bad,” White said.
Police arrested one suspect and are pursuing the case as an attempted murder and aggravated robbery.
It was not immediately known whether police are looking for an additional suspect.
