When Modmarket co-owner Rob McColgan saw a contest on Facebook for small business sponsored by American Express, he thought it was worth a shot in the dark.
“We use American Express and Facebook a lot, so I figured we would be a good fit.”
Now, Modmarket is one of 10 finalists in “Facebook Big Break for Small Business,” a nation-wide competition that will award five small businesses $20,000 and send them to Facebook`s headquarters in Palo Alto, Calif. to learn the newest social media marketing strategies.
They are the biggest and best at what they do, so I think it would be a great experience,” McColgan said.
McColgan and fellow co-owner Anthony Pigliacampo opened Modmarket in Boulder in 2009 as a restaurant that wanted to use healthy and sustainable ingredients to make fast food. They have since opened a second restaurant in Glendale, and Facebook and social media have always been a big part of their business.
