Longmont police arrested a suspected serial arsonist this afternoon after he was allegedly spotted by a resident trying to start a fire in an alley.
Conrad Nilsson, 31, is being held in the Boulder County Jail on charges of second-degree arson, two counts of first-degree arson and attempted fourth-degree arson.
He was reportedly seen today trying to start in the 1000 block of Corey Street, which is a little more than two blocks from his home, records indicate.
Nilsson also was “positively connected” to fires at storage buildings or in alleys at 422 Mountain View Ave., 525 15th Ave. and the attempted arson today, police said.
All of the locations are near Nilsson’s home.
He also is the subject of arrest warrants in Adams County, including two counts of carrying a concealed weapon for carrying “illegal knives,” a felony charge of attempting to influence a public official and failure to appear on a drug charge.
Investigators think Nilsson could have set other fires.
