Denver police are offering a $2,000 reward for information about an incident late Thursday in which a driver hit a woman in a wheelchair, then fled the scene.

The woman, in her mid- to late 40s, was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson said.

Police got a call around 11:30 p.m. about a woman lying in the roadway in the 2100 block of South Holly Street, just north of East Evans Avenue. The caller reported that the woman was lying near a wheelchair.

Jackson said authorities have been unable to speak with the woman to obtain a description of the vehicle or any other information. He did not release her name.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Denver police traffic investigations bureau at 720-337-1000 or call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867).

Information that leads to the arrest and charging of a wanted individual will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000, police said.
