DENVER—A man convicted of killing of his wife in what prosecutors say was a suicide pact has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The Denver District’s Attorney’s office says 37-year-old Keenu Tiyme was sentenced Friday and was taken to the Colorado Department of Corrections to begin serving his sentence.

Jurors found Tiyme guilty of first-degree murder in May. He had pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

Prosecutors say Tiyme rented a Denver motel room in October 18, 2008 for what investigators believe was a suicide pact with his wife, Kauri Tiyme. A motel housekeeper found her body and authorities say Keenu Tiyme fled and was arrested in New Mexico days later.
