School-age kids can beat the heat with water-bucket relays, smoothie sampling and wet-sponge-throwing contests at the “Health for All Seasons: H2O-lympics” event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Children’s Museum of Denver. Participants also will learn about staying hydrated and protecting themselves from the sun as they craft UV bracelets and sun visors. Sweet relief

Cool off from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Village at Edge- water’s first ice cream social of the summer featuring Italian gelato by Espo, a Lakewood company specializing in handcrafted, all-natural desserts. Scoops, sandwiches and classic push-pops will cost less than $3 on the Village’s finished patio. Laugh it up

Upcoming. Youngsters ages 11 to 15 can end their summer vacations with a punch line by participating in “Camp Lotta HA HA,” happening July 25-30 at the Comedy Works South. During the camp, entertainment professionals — including local comedian Phil Palisoul, who has appeared on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” and “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” — will teach campers how to express their humor through video and sound recording, writing and improvisation. The camp culminates with a stand-up comedy show featuring kid-created skits. The $300 registration fee pays for daily lunches and snacks and 10 tickets to attend the show on July 30. Three participants will receive scholarships to attend camp for free. Register by July 23 at comedy .
