Harry Smith will jump to NBC News after being bumped from CBS’ “Early Show” earlier this year.

Smith, a Denver broadcast veteran known for his engaging storytelling style, will work on the upcoming Brian Williams primetime hour.

“Harry Smith has been a fixture here at CBS News for a generation-—he joined us in Dallas in 1986-—but today he’s decided to move on,” CBS News President David Rhodes said in a memo.

Smith anchored the CBS morning show for 25 years and was a correspondent for the “CBS Evening News.” Previously he worked in Denver TV at KMGH and KRMA and at radio stations KHOW and KIMN.
