Douglas County Sheriff deputies have called off the search for two men and a woman after investigators determined that the reported robbery never happened.
The original report said that two men and a woman posed as salespeople before robbing and assaulting a disabled homeowner.
Police are now investigating the case as an incident of false reporting, according to a new release from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
The allegedly false report claimed that the home invasion robbery happened Thursday afternoon east of Parker near the Douglas and Elbert county line where the suspects forced their way into the home, assaulted the disabled resident and stole several items, according to the sheriff’s department.
The resident claimed to have recognized the woman as someone who had come through the neighborhood in the previous weeks posing as a salesperson selling aerial photography.
