Douglas County sheriff’s deputies called off the search for two men and a woman for home invasion after investigators determined the reported robbery never happened.
The initial report said two men and a woman posed as salespeople before robbing and assaulting a disabled homeowner. Police are now investigating the case as an incident of false reporting, according to a news release from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
The allegedly false report claimed the home-invasion occurred Thursday afternoon east of Parker near the Douglas and Elbert county line. The suspects reportedly forced their way into the home, assaulted the disabled resident and stole several items, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The resident claimed to have recognized the woman as someone who had been in the neighborhood in the previous weeks posing as a aerial photography salesperson.
