Police are investigating an accident that killed one woman and closed a Denver intersection early this morning.

At 5:10 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of East 14th Avenue and Monaco Parkway, said Vicki Ferrari, a spokeswoman for the Denver Police Department.

The woman was driving an SUV eastbound on 14th Avenue when she collided with the semi and became wedged underneath the trailer. The semi was traveling south on Monaco Parkway.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was the only person in the SUV. She was pronounced dead on scene.

The intersection was closed for almost four hours.

The crash is under investigation and no citations have been issued at this time, Ferrari said.
