Colorado Springs police are still investigating what led to a shoot-out and car chase that stretched for several blocks Saturday morning, leaving at least two people dead.

Sgt. Steve Noblitt said police need the public’s help in identifying people or vehicles that may have been involved.

“If anybody suspects someone they know was involved, call us,” Noblitt said. “It could be the break in the case.”

The gun battle extended for at least two blocks, from the parking lot of the Brunswick Zone bowling alley at 999 N. Circle Drive south down Tia Juana into a residential neighborhood.

Witnesses described a chaotic scene, in which multiple people — some inside vehicles, some not — were fighting, yelling, and shooting at each other.

Several witnesses saw one man jump out of a car that had been boxed in. As the man ran away, another car hit him from behind, then backed over him again as he lay in the street.

Police say the incident may be gang-related.

Two Colorado Springs men, Jose Robles, 34, and Jose Gomez, 31, were killed. The El Paso County Coroner’s Office declared both men’s deaths homicides. Each man had a gunshot wound and multiple stab wounds.

Their deaths mark the 10th and 11th homicides in Colorado Springs this year. There 12 in Colorado Springs at this time last year.

At least two other people were injured.
