Mammoth trades Carey, stockpiles draft picks.
The Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League acquired 23-year-old forward Mat MacLeod and 24-year-old defenseman Creighton Reid in a trade with the Toronto Rock. The Mammoth also received the No. 9 and No. 14 overall selections in this year’s NLL entry draft for veteran forward Dan Carey, the No. 28 pick in this year’s draft and a first-round selection in the 2013 draft.
“Mat and Creighton provide us with much-needed youth,” said Mammoth coach Bob Hamley, “and the picks we received will be invaluable.”
Colorado has five of the first 17 picks in the draft.
Carey, 29, scored 89 goals and had 147 assists in five seasons with the Mammoth.
