Even before residents and county road crews could finish digging out from an evening of heavy rains, a flash flood warning is in place over the Fourmile Fire burn area and along Boulder Creek.

Officials upgraded the flash watch that was supposed to be activated at 3 p.m. today to a more serious flash flood warning, meaning flooding is imminent or occurring, as of 1 p.m. That warning is now extended until 5 p.m.

A warning posted by the National Weather Service called the second round of storms today a “life-threatening situation” that will likely create “extansive and severa flash flooding of creeks, streams and ditches in the Fourmile burn area.”

The warning states that a surge of water is expected to bring debris Gold Run and Fourmile Creek.

There were reports that Ingram Gulch, which drains toward Salina, already was filling up after the first band of rain storms moved over the area around 1 p.m.
