Boulder City Manager Jane Brautigam and her staff are recommending that the City Council ask voters to approve the creation of a municipal utility in November, the Daily Camera reported Friday.

The City Council will decide on Tuesday whether to accept the recommendation and move forward with the process of putting the necessary questions on the ballot.

Staffers also are recommending that the City Council ask voters to support an increase and extension of the current Climate Action Plan tax to fund the work that will need to be done before the municipal utility is up and running. The city estimates that those costs will be about $1 million a year for three to five years.
