A robbery suspect was arrested Friday afternoon after he was found sleeping in a car parked two blocks from Westminster police headquarters.

A police sergeant spotted the man, later identified as Paul McQue Webb, 26, in a car parked at West 92nd Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard. Police said he had a substantial laceration on his left hand, which needed medical attention. The man appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

Police determined that Webb matched the description of an armed robber who held up a Westminster pharmacy Friday morning and left a trail of blood.

At the time, police theorized that the robber may have accidentally shot himself while trying to conceal a gun.

Westminster police said a Walgreens near West 110th Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard was robbed about 9:20 a.m.

During the incident, victims noticed the robber was bleeding “from an abdominal wound on his right side,” police said at the time.

He showed a handgun and demanded narcotic pain pills.

“Blood had soaked through his clothing and pooled on the floor where he was standing,” police said.

Officers tracked a blood trail out of the store into the parking lot.
