The woman who committed chemical suicide was identified today as 38-year-old Patricia Lyn Perley of Aurora.

Arapahoe County Coroner investigator Ivor Hansen said an autopsy showed Perley died of hydrogen sulfide inhalation. Her death was classified as a suicide.

Fire crews found Perley’s body on Saturday in her apartment after neighbors complained of odor.

Inside, they found her body with a note taped to a bathroom door saying that hazardous materials had been used and to call 911.

In chemical suicides, it is common to warn people about the method being used.

Residents of the complex were evacuated while the case was being investigated and the apartment was made safe again.
