Lockheed Martin has announced a voluntary layoff program for about 6,500 salaried corporate headquarters and enterprise business services employees — 750 of whom are stationed in Colorado.
Those who choose to leave under the program will receive a “competitive severance package,” Bethesda, Md.-based Lockheed said in a statement. “Based on the number of volunteers and budget considerations, the company will make a determination on the need for future involuntary reductions.”
Announced Tuesday, the program follows other recent Lockheed reductions offered to 1,500 in aeronautics and 1,200 in space systems. Of 600 Lockheed executives offered a package earlier this year, 350 were accepted, reducing costs about $350 million over the next five years. Denver Post staff and wire reports
