The will postpone the start of its North American tour, pushing a number of dates back six months – including its sold-out concert – the band announced this morning.

Singer Anthony Kiedis recently went through surgery to take out a “crushed sesamoid bone and correct a detached flexor tendon in his foot,” according to a release from the band. Kiedis will recover from the foot surgeries, but the process will take time.

The Mar. 4 date at the Pepsi Center in Denver has been moved back to Sept. 27. Tickets for all postponed dates will be honored at the rescheduled dates.

The Chili Peppers are supporting the Grammy-nominated album “I’m With You.”
