
Said Rockies manager Jim Tracy, when asked before the game about Troy Tulowitzki’s recent struggles at the plate: “He’ll get it fixed, I promise you.” Barely three hours later, Tulowitzki hit a three-run, first-inning homer off Brandon Beachy. Not that the Rockies go as Tulo goes, but they’re 14-4 when he homers after finishing 20-3 last season when he went deep.

Talk about consistent. Seth Smith in the season’s first three months: .306, two homers, 12 RBIs, .303-3-10, and .308-3-13. But Smith was hitting .240-0-2 in July before his run-scoring double in the third.
