DENVER—A man who bought the balloon boy saucer says he plans to put it on display at his sports card store in Aurora, then cut it up for souvenirs.

Michael Fruitman says he bought the balloon from a California attorney representing the owners. The attorney for Richard and Mayumi Heene (HEE’-nee) said Fruitman paid $2,502 earlier this month for the balloon.

Fruitman says it will go on display at noon Thursday at Mike’s Stadium Sports Cards.

The Heenes, who moved to Florida, were charged when it was discovered their 6-year-old son was never on the balloon. They had to pay $36,000 in restitution to authorities who responded to the 2009 incident.
